Sell Your Hand-Crafted Items with Moonta Craft Shop
Sell Your Crafts
Want To Sell Your Crafts?
Want to sell your crafts and earn a bit of extra income from your hobby?
The Moonta Craft Shop welcomes new members who are keen to sell their hand-crafted items.
Some of the creative items you’ll find stocked in the shop at any time include clothing, artwork, woodwork, knitted and crocheted items, toys, knick-knacks, homewares, jewellery, gifts, cards, novelties, books, homemade jams, relishes, sauces, honey, and pickled products made from locally grown produce.
Become a member and you’ll have the opportunity to display and sell your crafted items in a highly-visible retail shopfront in the main street of Moonta. The shop is open 7 days a week, so there are always opportunities to sell your arts and crafts.
If you think your crafted items could appeal to the shop’s customers, send us an email or come in and speak to any of our volunteers. We’ll all be happy to help!
2Why Sell Your Crafts at the Moonta Craft Shop?
There are lots of benefits to selling your handmade or crafted items in the Moonta Craft Shop. Selling your arts or crafts in the shop could be a great way to earn some extra cash from your hobby. It could also be a great testing ground for new products for your own crafting micro-business.
What’s more, the shop is open 7 days a week, so you have the advantage of having your items displayed and available for sale all the time.
If you have your items displayed on a stall at the local markets, your customers can only see them for a few hours during market hours. You also have to be present the entire time to make sales.
By comparison, when you choose to display your stock in the Moonta Craft Shop you have the benefit of having your items on sale 7 days a week in a prominent retail shop right in the main street of Moonta.
Our team of volunteers keep the shop open every day, so you could still be making sales whether you’re in the shop or not!
Membership Fee
$50 per year – that’s less than $1 per week to display your items for sale 7 days a week!
Commission Rates
The Moonta Craft Shop charges each member a commission based on the value of each sale made. The actual amount of commission paid will vary, depending on the number of shifts members volunteer to work within the shop each month.
Shop Shifts:
Morning shift: 10am – 1pm
Afternoon shift: 1pm – 3.30pm
Commission Tiers:
– 3 or more shifts worked per month: 15%
– 1-2 shifts worked per month: 20%
– 0 shifts worked per month: 25%
* Fees are current as of February 2020
Why Are There Membership Fees AND Commissions?
The Moonta Craft Co-op is a non-profit organisation, so all annual membership fees and commissions go directly towards covering the costs associated with keeping the shop running. These costs include covering the cost of rent for a prominent retail shopfront, electricity costs, insurance premiums, and other sundry costs of keeping the shop open every day of the week.
Can You Sell Your Crafts Elsewhere Too?
Yes, of course! Some of our members dedicate some of their stock to keep in the Shop, but they also pay for and set up individual stalls to sell other handcrafted works at local markets in Kadina, Wallaroo and other locations too. Others may also have their crafted items available for sale in other retail outlets, including online websites.
Keep in mind that we do have a ‘no duplication’ policy in place. This means we prefer not to stock duplicated items, so come into the shop and check what stock is currently being sold and where your items might compliment our existing range!
Please speak to any of our volunteers in the shop about selling your crafts in the Moonta Craft Shop if you also want to sell elsewhere too, or email us and one of our members will get back to you with more information.
